The National Conference on “Advances in Agrometeorological Interventions for Climate Resilient Agriculture (AGMET-2022)” was the 11th in the series of national seminars/conferences organized by the Association of Agrometeorologists (AAM), India, and was conducted in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore from 15 to 17 February 2023. The AAM–Coimbatore Chapter led the organization of the event, which aimed to strengthen climate-resilient agriculture through advanced agrometeorological research and applications. The inaugural function held at Anna Auditorium, TNAU was presided over by Dr. M. K. Kalarani, Director, Crop Management, TNAU, who welcomed the gathering. Opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Santanu Kumar Bal, Acting President, AAM, followed by felicitation from senior agrometeorologist Dr. G. S. H. L. V. Rao. During the ceremony, awards for FAAM, best M.Sc. and Ph.D. theses, best research paper, and Dr. S. Venkataraman Young Scientist Award were presented by AAM.

The Chief Guest, Dr. V. Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU, released the AGMET-2022 Abstract Compendium and two key publications on crop–weather relationships and crop simulation models, and emphasized collaborative research, data sharing, and training among agrometeorological institutions for farmer welfare. The keynote address by Dr. B. V. Ramana Rao highlighted the need for agrometeorological education across all State Agricultural Universities. The conference featured oral and poster sessions across five themes, comprising ten sessions over three days. AGMET-2022 focused on strengthening Climate Resilient Agriculture (CRA) to sustain productivity under changing climates, addressing rising temperatures, CO₂ levels, and increasing extreme events such as droughts and floods, while promoting science-based solutions for sustainable farm management.

Importantly, the Madras Agricultural Students’ Union (MASU) was a proud sponsor of the conference and extended significant monetary support to ensure its successful conduct. MASU’s contribution played a vital role in strengthening the event’s outreach, scientific value, and overall impact.

This international gathering served as a major platform to reinforce collaborations, inspire innovation, and contribute to a more resilient future for global agriculture.
