The International Conference titled “Global Rice Conference 2021: Deliberations on Advances in Rice Research” was successfully organized on 24–25 September 2021 at the Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT), Thanjavur. The conference was jointly hosted by the Tamil Nadu Rice Research Institute (TRRI), Aduthurai, and the Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT), Thanjavur. The event served as a significant platform for scientists, researchers, academicians, industry experts, policymakers, and students to deliberate on recent advancements, innovative technologies, and emerging challenges in rice research and development.

 

The conference focused on various critical aspects of rice science, including crop improvement, sustainable production technologies, pest and disease management, climate-resilient varieties, post-harvest management, value addition, and food processing innovations. Eminent speakers from national and international institutions shared their expertise and research findings, fostering knowledge exchange and collaborative discussions aimed at strengthening global rice production systems and ensuring food security.

 

In line with the objective of enhancing research collaboration and uplifting farming standards, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s Rasi Seeds, Athur, Salem, on 09 September 2021. The MoU aims to promote close research and educational partnerships, particularly in supporting private research and development institutions. This collaboration is intended to facilitate technology transfer, innovation in seed development, and capacity building initiatives that directly benefit farmers by improving productivity, profitability, and sustainability in rice cultivation.

 

Importantly, the Madras Agricultural Students’ Union (MASU) was a proud sponsor of the conference and extended significant monetary support to ensure its successful conduct. MASU’s contribution played a vital role in strengthening the event’s outreach, scientific value, and overall impact.

 

This international gathering served as a major platform to reinforce collaborations, inspire innovation, and contribute to a more resilient future for global agriculture.
